This is the time when grape must symbolically turns into wine, winemakers celebrate the new wine harvest, and locals and visitors come together to enjoy delicious food, wine and good company.

St. Martin's Day is celebrated on November 11, but festivities throughout the Vipava Valley begin even earlier. Traditional celebrations include tastings of young wines, local culinary specialities, music and a variety of events that introduce visitors to the region's rich winemaking heritage.

St. Martin's Day at the Castles – November 7, 2026

On Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, the St. Martin's Day at the Castles event will take place across five beautiful locations in the Vipava Valley and Karst region: Štanjel Castle, Rihemberk Castle, Lanthieri Mansion in Vipava, Vipavski Križ and Gorjansko.

Visitors will have the opportunity to taste wines from local winemakers, enjoy traditional delicacies and explore historic locations accompanied by music and a varied entertainment programme. A free shuttle bus service will also be available between the venues.

St. Martin's Day at Guerila Winery – November 7, 2026

On the same day, Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, St. Martin's Day celebrations will also take place at Guerila Winery.

While exploring the winery and enjoying breathtaking views of the Vipava Valley, visitors can savour excellent wines, locally produced prosciutto, cheeses and other regional delicacies. From 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, DJ Slejic will provide music and create a lively, welcoming atmosphere.

Admission is free, while wines and food will be available at special tasting prices.
